You’ve Got This-Autism Awareness Month

Autism Matters Blog Hop

I have been so blessed to be part of some Autism Awareness Events this year, linking a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators together to share what we love while creating greater awareness for autism. There is a message of encouragement we want to send to ALL those facing the challenges of autism even while we endeavor to raise awareness and funds to help those families.  We believe in you and lend our support in your journey!  Perhaps you know someone who is a caregiver for someone on the autism spectrum.  This handmade card would help them know that you are in their corner.

While here, check out my previous post highlighting the fundraiser I hosted on Autism Awareness Day, April 2nd.  I love the opportunity to do what I love–stamping–while making a difference!!!

Zentangle

For my handmade card, I used the Zentangle technique to "color in" my flower–my way to depict the uniqueness of those with autism.  Zentangle is the art of intentional doodling to make images, designs, etc.  It's super fun to do, and each project you make is different–kinda like the autism spectrum.  Each person in that spectrum is different, unique, and beautiful!

I wanted the Zentangle to be my focal point with no distractions, so my "embellishments" are minimal.  A little Gold Thread and Wink of Stella are all I added.  You may not readily see it in the photo, but I "painted" both the stamens and stem/leaves with the Clear Wink of Stella.  The subtle glimmer and shine really makes those colors pop.  To me, the black and vanilla canvas with pops of vibrant color is a bit of a nod to Andy Warhol and the pop art of the 60s.  Not sure you can see that, but in my mind it's there!  LOL.  My Stampin' Up! supplies are listed below.

If you would like to make a donation to the Arc, San Antonio's go-to resource for families facing autism and other developmental disabilities, simply go to their website, have a look around to see the amazing things they do to help THROUGHOUT life.  And consider making a donation.  Every little bit counts, and YOU can make a difference!  The Donate Now button is in the top right corner.  Or just use the big button below.  If you do make a donation of ANY AMOUNT, email me with your snail mail address, and  I'll send you a hand-stamped thank you card.
