Watercolor Wings stamp set-Stampin’ Up! Retiring List

On my Southern Sweet Stampers Demonstrator Team Facebook page, we just did a sketch challenge, and this was my entry.  I liked it so much I decided to feature this as one of the projects at stamp club this month. (Click here to learn about my monthly rubberstamp club for card-makers and scrapbookers.)  Watercolor Wings stamp set is one of my Top Picks on the Stampin' Up! Retiring List.  I think it's a must-have for crafters.

I love the challenge of using supplies in a different way–challenging my thinking just a bit.  The Designer Series Paper I used here is the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper.  I love these coffee plant images and think they should be used way beyond the original coffee theme.  I love the classic, crisp Garden Green color and knew it was perfect for my summer garden-themed handmade card.

Let me point out just a few features of my handmade butterfly card:

  • The card base is Wild Wasabi card stock, one of the retiring Stampin' Up! colors.  It's the lighter counterpart to Garden Green, so get it while you still can if you love clear greens.
  • Although it doesn't show up well in photos, I added a light coating of Wink of Stella to the entire butterfly giving it a soft shimmer.
  • When using a busy background like the coffee plant DSP here, I like to use a bold solid image on top.  Although the butterfly image is 3 separate stamps, giving it plenty of definition, I used colors that were similar to one another so my butterfly had definition but pattern remained subtle.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  All Stampin' Up! supplies are listed and linked to my online store below for your convenience.

As we are in the Retiring List period (until May 31), product availability is limited as retiring items are “as supplies last”. Shop today to avoid disappointment!
