Resourceful Rusty Card Ideas

Resourceful Rusty is one of the March Release Online Exclusives, and the artwork is adorable! It is a perfect fit for my new series: Stamp Camp for Grammas. I’m creating projects specifically designed for my grandchildren and knew many of my customers would want to get in on the action!

In my first of the series, I knew I wanted to focus on projects for boys. For me, it’s really easy to make cute projects for my granddaughters. But I also have 3 grandsons and find it more challenging to create for them. Enter Resourceful Rusty! Here are a few of my design thoughts for the card above:

  • Retiring In Colors (2023-2025) are really good for masculine cards. I love their earthiness. As much as I love the In Colors, I always release the retiring ones slowly:). And of course, for customers they have made an investment in those colors and want to keep creating with them!
  • I added lots of texture thru Perennial Postage dies, Painted Plaster Embossing Folder, and stitched ribbon. In addition, this is a fun fold card which means there is a bit of an interactive element. This is a perfect way to surprise and delight a young grandson (or son)!
  • All the greetings in Resourceful Rusty are meant to encourage and strengthen. With grandchildren who live afar, this is a great way to expand my card-sending beyond birthdays and holidays. I often know when they are struggling with school, attitudes, health challenges, etc. Happy mail from Gramma to the rescue!
  • One more thing! The critters in Resourceful Rusty are a bit open to interpretation. They can be squirrels or foxes which gives me additional latitude and leeway with my designs.

The Resourceful Rusty card above is part of an add-on class for my stamp camp. Due to popular demand, I opened up an event for this as a stand alone class as well since the original stamp camp features product in limited quantities.
