oWelcome to this month’s installment of Remarkably Created Blog Hop where Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have teamed up to share Easter creations with you. You are at Candy Rattray, sweetstamper.com. Thanks so much for stopping by!
I have an Easter card for you featuring Brusho Crystal Colors. They are super easy and fun to use, giving you some very artsy looking results. For today’s card (which I created for a recent techniques class), I took a piece of Watercolor Paper (5 x 3-3/4″) and sprinkled a fair bit of yellow Brusho. I then added a bit of orange to the center and spritzed. The more you spritz the Brusho crystals, the more the color runs. When you spritz less, you get more of a speckled look.
With splashy, artsy backgrounds, I like to keep the rest of the card simple. I turned to the gorgeous filigree cross from Crosses of Hope Framelit dies–new in the Occasions Catalog–and ran it through the Big Shot using the Precision Base Plate. When working with intricate images like my filigree cross, the Precision Base Plate is a lifesaver. Those extra little pieces, which you no longer need, pop right out and give you a crisp finish.
Since my Easter card is an religious Easter card celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I used a couple of images to bring added meaning to my design.
- I used Elegant Eggplant card stock, a deep rich purple to bring to remembrance the purple robe placed on Jesus as He was being mocked before the crucifixion.
- I used Whisper White Organza Ribbon as a “drape” over the cross signifying the grave clothes Jesus left behind when he rose from the grave.
- Shades of yellow are my main color to signify the sun rising and a new beginning when Jesus Christ conquered the grave for all of us
Of course, the cross is my central image, and the filigree cross from Crosses of Hope is really gorgeous. I used Copper Foil Sheet for soft elegance that ties in with my yellows.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you are a Christian, I hope you are inspired to send handmade Easter cards this year to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Truly, that is what the Easter season is all about!
