I love the color scheme in the Petals & Paisleys Designer Series Paper! I would not have come up with it on my own, for sure. But I used it and think it is a lovely combination of traditional and modern fall colors. We made this Thanksgiving card in my stamp club in San Antonio this month, and it utilizes almost all the elements in the Petals & Paisleys suite of coordinating products in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog: Paisleys & Posies stamp set, Paisley Framelit Dies, Petals & Paisleys Specialty DSP, 3/8" Ribbon Trio Pack, and the fabulous Copper Foil Sheets. I think the Copper Foil Sheets is one of my absolute favorite products in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog! I made 2 versions of the same card using the same supplies. I love them both!
Do you ever wonder what color scheme you should use on a card? Just look at one of the many fabulous DSP sets. Find one that you really like, look at the colors listed (the colors are listed in both the catalog and on the back of the white protective sheet behind the DSP in the package), and just go for it! The SU! artists have already done the "work" and they come up with gorgeous color schemes.
There are 3 things I want to point out to you on these cards:
- Notice the stamped background on the bottom layer. To achieve that, I simply placed about 10 of the tiny stamps from Paisleys & Posies stamp set on a clear block. I placed them close together and then just stamped repeatedly. Easy, peasy!
- Notice the little copper foil embellishment. I'm in love with that! It's one of the framelits in Paisley Framelit Dies. You do want to use the Precision Plate when cutting these out as they are super intricate. The pattern for the frame lit repeats in several of the patterns in the DSP. I love repeating patterns in cards:)
- Although there are some really great words in the Paisleys & Posies stamp set, I opted to use Suite Seasons for this card. I like the way the curved words fit perfectly into my oval.
That's it for today. Thanks so much for stopping by. Check out the information for my stamp club in San Antonio here and let me know if you have any questions at all.
