I'm back with Day 3 of my 31-Day Blogging Challenge, and I have another Merry Patterns (Stampin' Up! host free stamp set!) card for you. This one is totally out of the box as it's a birthday card and could not be more different from anything Christmas or even winter–which is what comes to mind with the images and greetings in Merry Patterns.
I designed this handmade birthday card for my monthly team meeting. (Read more about being on my monthly demonstrator team here!) My design "boundaries" were that
- I wanted to use Merry Patterns since that is our current host promotion
- And I also wanted to use some of the Designer Series Paper in the Buy 3, Get 1 Free DSP sale.
Personally, I work best with design boundaries or direction. If I walk into my stamping space and just want to create with no direction, it will probably be a less than successful and enjoyable stamping session:) I need a color scheme or them or stamp set or something to help me create something and enjoy the process. Here are my DSP musings:
- I love the way Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper works here. The 3 different patterns coordinate beautifully and give lots of interest. I oftentimes avoid this many patterns, but I think they work here!
- I chose the dinosaur pattern for the top of my card because I think it's a natural for a birthday card to delight any age. A young person would love the cuteness factor of the dinosaurs. An older person would get a kick out of the implied undertone that they are getting as old as a dinosaur!
That's it for today. All the Stampin' Up! supplies are listed and linked below for your convenience. Head over to my online store and get some of the Designer Series Papers on sale right now. It's a great deal!
