One of the very fun stamp sets in the new Stampin' Up! Catalog is Marquee Messages, and it was a gift to those of us who attended On Stage (aka Convention in Salt Lake City in April–I love free stamps!). Having your custom message literally "up in lights" on a marquee is a great way to express yourself and love on someone special. Although the actual sign is really cool, I wanted to use the words only–they are a really trendy font. And my current favorite In Color is Flirty Flamingo which is part of how this card was born.
The basic elements and color scheme were originally on the project bags for my recent Training Event aka stamp camp in San Antonio. (Scroll down to see the bags.) I wanted to use my favorite In Color Flirty Flamingo and the new doilies–they are a bit smaller than the previous ones, more intricate details in the lace, and an off-white . I also wanted to use that lovely new Natural Ribbon with the gold thread. Do you ever create projects this way? Where you have a set of items you want to use? Creativity comes in many ways…
I love the fact that Marquee Messages is a photopolymer stamp set. Since I can totally see through the stamps, it makes for super easy placement. I was making a bunch of these, so I just cut out the tags on the Big Shot, then stamped and sponged. That was quicker and easier than stamping first. And I'm always looking for shortcuts:)
The project bags are here as well. I needed something to hold all the precut project supplies for my event and didn't have enough of the kraft bags with handles that I often use. But I do love lunch sacks! Maybe they remind me of the good things of childhood like peanut butter sandwiches and apples and a homemade cookie inside, shared with friends in the lunchroom at school:) Anyway, they have so many uses and are cheap! And they are nostalgic. And they are a blank canvas for creativity. I love them:) So I normally have lots of these on hand. So the bag came before the card, and the is my creative journey with these projects.
That's it for today. I hope you like my Flirty Flamingo creations and are inspired in your own creativity. Make something pretty today! It will feed your soul:)
