Garden Wishes Card Ideas

gardenwishesstampinupcardideascandyrattraysweetstamperGarden Wishes Bundle is ON SALE through March 31st at 20% off, and I think it's a beauty!  For today's Garden Wishes card ideas, I went for a botanical print look.  You know those classy, classic botanical prints that adorn the walls of everything from libraries to stately homes to posh houses?  That's the look I was thinking of by way of inspiration.  The detailed cling rubber stamps in Garden Wishes make this a creative possibility that comes together in minutes.

These Garden Wishes cards were my weekly Simple & Stepped Up Facebook Live card-making demonstration.  I start with #simplestamping and then step it up.  So that is what fueled my Garden Wishes card ideas.  They are 2 of the same design–one simple and one stepped up.  You can scroll to the very bottom of this post to see the video demonstration.

But this week I added a twist–something I love to do as illustrated in my monthly Cards With a Twist Class by Mail.  On my #simplestamping card I used the no-line watercoloring technique (image stamped with pale ink–I used Sahara Sand) for a super soft look.  On my stepped up card I used traditional watercoloring (image stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink).  Both cards were watercolored with Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens.  I love gardenwishesstampinupcardideascandyrattraysweetstamperd being able to sneak in a bit of technique demonstration with my #simplestamping!

When I think of #simplestamping I often think of the things I used when I first fell in love with stamping.  Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens were at the top of my list as they afforded me quick success and gave me an array of awesome Stampin' Up! colors at a very low price and taking up a very small footprint in my space.  Affordable, space-saving, and easy to use–yes, please!  They are still a favorite coloring medium I turn to often.

Each month Stampin' Up! issues us a #simplestamping challenge and for March it is:

  • Stamps
  • Ink
  • Paper
  • Embellishment

Here's my #simplestamping plan:

  1. One stamp set:  Garden Wishes
  2. 2 colors of cardstock:  Soft Sea Foam, Basic White
  3. 2 ink pads:  Sahara Sand, Soft Sea Foam plus Watercolor Pencils
  4. My embellishment:  Linen Thread

I was so happy with my #simplestamping card which is perfect for beginner card makers as well as us avid crafters:)

So how should I step it up?  I really loved the simplicity of my Garden Wishes card that dialed in the beauty of the dandelion flower and leaves.  I added just 2 things to step it up:

  • Vellum Layering Designs (mini catalog)
  • Stamped and die-cut bumblebee (using the coordinating dies)

I also used Memento Black ink which resulted in a MUCH bolder look due to the heavily detailed dandelion stamp.  I chose one of the Vellum Layering Designs with black print to add to the look of a botanical print or even a botanical journal.
