Rock and Roll Technique

I've been featuring projects using items from the Last Chance Lists most of this month, but I thought I would head back to one of my favorite Summer Mini Catalog sets, Fabulous Florets, foRock and Roll up closer a look at the Rock and Roll Technique.  Rock and Roll is more than a music style.  It’s a beautiful stamping technique!  Rock and Roll is quick and easy yet produces stunning results that make you look like an accomplished artist.  It’s also a great way to reproduce some of nature’s most lovely color combinations.

  1. Choose two ink colors that look good together on a project.  One must be light and one must be medium to dark intensity.  High contrast in the two ink colors will produce the most dramatic results.
  2. Press solid image stamp (like the biz zinnia image in Fabulous Florets as shown here) on light colored ink pad.  Make sure the stamp is thoroughly covered in ink.
  3. Now take the same stamp and, using a rocking motion, roll the edges of the stamp in the darker ink pad being careful to not get the center of the image in the darker color.
  4. Now stamp on light card stock of choice.  That’s it!  Experiment with different color combinations to get just the right look you want.

Rock and Roll Florets

I love the Rock and Roll Technique with nature images.  Because the technique produces truly unique results, it is much like nature.  No two flowers are totally alike, and you will find the same thing when you employ this rubber stamping technique–no two images are exactly alike.  The Fabulous Florets stamp set is a natural for this technique (pardon the pun:)  I just love the versatility of this stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog.
