I love every single image in the Christmas Magic stamp set (in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog), but the Christmas train is my favorite! The art work is fabulous, and don't you think trains are a beautifully iconic Christmas image??!!! This vintage train conjures up Christmas past, old-fashioned goodness, and idyllic childhood memories–perfect for Christmas.
This is actually a quick and easy Christmas card. You can get a vintage look in just moments –it doesn't have to take a long time. Sponging with Soft Suede ink is a must for all things vintage. That one little "technique" instantly ages your project. Because I'm a quick and easy girl, I didn't want to spend a lot of time coloring in my Christmas train. By stamping and sponging in various shades of brown, I ended up with something that is reminiscent of a sepia colored photo. The white chalk marker brought out the steam coming off the train, giving just the right highlights.
Do you see how I rounded the top of my little Christmas train panel? That takes just a few seconds and adds a nice touch and bit of interest.
Although the Candy Cane Lane DSP, which I used here, is sold out, you could easily reproduce this card with any striped DSP like the stripe pattern in the Brights DSP Stack. And Christmas Magic stamp set is actually on sale right now! So head to my online store and get it while you can. It's while supplies last only, and I do think Christmas Magic is a must-have for your Christmas crafting stash. While you're there, grab some of the Candy Cane Lane Bakers Twine. It, too, is while supplies last and will be perfect for Valentines projects!
