I have a bright, cheery birthday card idea for Sentimental Swirls stamp set today that is perfect for a teenage or college age girl or young woman. I think any of us girls would enjoy receiving this handmade birthday card, but it definitely appeals to the younger crowd with its bold, bright colors, high contrast, and flirty look.
Sentimental Swirls is one of 4 stamp sets/bundles I'm featuring in a series of 4 online birthday card classes. My aim is to give you some great ideas using the same stamp set/bundle. It's a series of free card-making ideas!
Here are some things that help this card come together with lots of contrasting bits and pieces without looking busy:
1. Gingham Embossing Folder gives important texture that isn't too deep. It's a regular embossing folder vs a 3D (which gives really deep embossed texture)
2. Sunshine & Rainbow free Sale-a-Bration Designer Series Paper has bright colors in small patterns on the B side. They are perfect for adding interest but not busyness.
3. The small white strips (Mother of Pearl Paper) add a bit of "punctuation" to the design. I originally had just one and then cut an extra strip for my demonstration. Adding that second strip was actually better.
4. Just 2 flowers were the perfect number although I originally planned for 3. It was just too much. I usually work with odd numbers vs even numbers in design. For this card the bow functions as the 3rd "flower".
