Bloom with Hope Sympathy Card in Lost Lagoon

I actually needed two sympathy cards this week for club members, so there has been much loss.  In the face of deep loss, a handmade sympathy card is the perfect gesture/gift.  Although it's "just a card," it will remain long after the flowers have wilted and died.  It will remain after all the loved ones go home.  It will be a perpetual reminder that you cared enough to actually make something with your own hands to show your sympathy.  The words inside are just as important.  We don't need to say a lot.  Heartfelt expressions mean so much when people are grieving.  People save these cards and look at them again and again, being comforted anew each time.  Such is the power of your handmade sympathy card.

Bloom w:Hope Blue symp card

Although I took this photo in natural light, it was a bit of a cloudy day, so I apologize for the color being a bit off.  I paired the new In Color Lost Lagoon with Basic Gray for a soft yet somber color scheme to properly reflect deep loss.  The only embellishment is a bit of Lost Lagoon Ribbon, and I think it's just the right touch.  I like my handmade sympathy cards to have a bit of elegance and formality.  Death is serious and I feel that those styles work well with the seriousness of the occasion.  I love that with handmade sympathy cards, we have the ability to totally customize the look for the person, the occasion, the mood, etc.  Such is the beauty of handmade cards.

I watercolored one of the flowers from Bloom with Hope rubberstamp set, one of the hostess sets in the new Stampin' Up! catalog.  It's my favorite hostess set and makes beautiful cards for many occasions.  I used Naturals Card Stock which is quite heavy and holds up well to watercoloring.  The aquapainter makes it quick and easy (my style always!), so this card quite literally comes together in just minutes.
