We celebrated my son Alex's birthday on Sunday, and I made this beer mug birthday card for him. He loved it! Masculine cards can be challenging for most of us ladies, and I saw this idea on another demonstrator's blog. When I saw it, I knew I had to make my own version for Alex. You see, my boys are in the process of opening a restaurant, The Granary 'Cue and Brew, here in San Antonio. It will feature house-made barbecue and house-brewed beers, Texas grown and Texas brewed. My older son Tim is the chef and my younger son Alex is the brewmaster. To add to the awesome concept, The Granary will be housed in the original cooper's home in the historic Pearl Brewery Complex. As Mom, I will shamelessly plug The Granary! As time goes on, you will see frequent postings about The Granary…tied in with my Stampin' Up! world, of course! Check out their blog to see the progress of the restaurant as well as lots of education about barbecue and beer!
Okay, on to my handmade card featuring a beer mug. This design can easily be adapted to fit your own personal tastes, from beer (I made Alex's from More Mustard card stock to signify a dark lager:) to root beer! Of course, beer and root beer are greatly loved by women, too, so you could feminize (is that a word???) this design by adding a bit of ribbon, some flowers, and/or a feminine color scheme.
My simple handmade card came together quickly and was a real hit with the family as we all gathered round to celebrate my Alex's 25th birthday with cards, presents, and plenty of laughter.
